Abstract
An Achievement test was given to the high school girls of the country and the following conclusions were obtaind:
(1) When the cities of the whole country were stratified into three groups of major cities-i.e. seoul, pusan and the rest-no striking gap in the level of achievement was indicated. The original hypothesis that there are no differences of achievement among the different regions can¢¥t be rejected. (Significant level 5%)
(2) In the solution of the common problems, there little significant difference in the correct answering ratio is found between those pupils taking up social science courses and those taking up natural science.
(3) The practical capacity is classified into three categories:
(A) calculating capacity
(B) capacity of the application of principles and concepts
(C) capacity of comprehension and memory of the basic concepts The correct answering ratio is highest in the problems requiring calculating capacity, the next highest is in the problems requiring calculating capacity, the next highest is in the problems requiring comprehension and memory of the basic concepts capacity, and thirdly, in the problems requiring application of principles ad concepts capacity.
(4) In the regional analysis of the achievement groups-i.e. high level group, middle level group and low level group-the following results appeared:
(4.1) social science course
No significant difference exists according to different regions, but a high significant difference in the practical capcity is found. (significant level 1%)
(4.2) Natural sciece course
In the pracitical capacity no significant difference is shown all the three groups.
However, among the regions, there exist high significant differences in both the high group and the low group.
